2015 Results - Warwickshire-LSS *** Help Please!!!

Post by Rugbytown »

My friend's son has got a score of 209 (results in yesterday - 16 Oct 2015).
And he is ranked 102 within the Eastern circle (Boys).

Will this mean he will get a chance to get in to Lawrence Sheriff?

My friend is worried & I am trying to help.
Please respond ASAP.
Thanks in advance. :D

You should post questions regarding the Warks test in the Warks forum. You are likely to get a better and quicker response than in this generic sub forum.

Even better get your friend to post on this forum direct!

The relevant stats for LSS last year were:-
LSS AQS 209, waiting list 202+, lowest score offered = 208

Also dependent on whether your friend lives in the inner /outer circle, and whether your friends son is entitled to the Pupil Premium.

Obviously also massively dependent on the AQS, which has not yet been set.

But from the information you have provided if your friend puts LSS as the first priority school on the CAF form, and submits this on time, there is a chance he will get LSS, however in my opinion it is a marginal decision.

Thanks for the response.

They live just 1/2 a mile from LSS. So I'd say it's the inner circle.
(My friend is working today the whole day, hence my involvement).

So you say it is marginal...? :(

Based on last years stats only your friends son would get in as he meets the AQS and the residency rules.

However unless the PAN changes, the AQS generally rises. If the AQS rises by one mark your friends son will not get an offer in the first round of offers, but will be put on the waiting list.

Once on the waiting list, your friends son will then be considered along with all other boys on the waiting list, including those boys who are out of catchment. Once on the waiting list residency rules don't apply, and it is based solely on scores, so there might be out of catchment children who scored over the AQS who will be offered places before your friends son.
In addition there is the added complication that (apparently) out of catchment offers are made in the first round of allocations.

In short with a score so close to last years AQS, a lot depends on the AQS for this year. If this does not rise your friends son should be fine (subject to the other criteria).
Below this and it becomes marginal.
However the AQS has a tendency to rise every year.
