New here, living in MK and wondering on chances for RLS
Hello,
I am new here so apologies if I make any faux pas.
We have aiming towards our eldest son taking the Transfer Test for a few years now, which would be in September 2016. As the time draws closer I am looking into how realistic it is that a child from out of area in Milton Keynes would get into the Royal Latin. Any previous parents in the area who have been successful who could give encouragement would be great, or any tips on how to secure this place - is getting 121+ enough? RLS is the only grammar school close enough to us, and our catchment school in MK is far from ideal so we are willing to do what it takes to help him.
Thanks in advance.

121 is the qualifying for any Bucks GS. Have you checked you live near enough? Look at the historic allocation distances.
There are GS in Aylesbury where many MK students go - two single gender (AGS - boys and AHS- girls) and a mixed GS (SHFGS).
PM me if you want to know more about the differences.

In Bucks, what counts is you score 121 or above to qualify. Other than that the score is irrelevant and other admissions criteria like distance etc come into play. I'm not familiar with individual Bucks schools' admissions policies.

There is a sticky started by Sally-Anne in the Bucks section - it has data from 2006 to 2015.

Historically last year the OA distance was 9.3 miles. We are 9.1.

9.3 miles was the distance for 2014. Last year was 8.276 miles, and that is far more typical, I'm afraid.
