walking through Nonsuch Park at night - how safe

Post by misholina »

We are looking at moving closer to Nonsuch, DD is in, we need to sort a more convenient commute now.

How safe is Nonsuch Park later in the evening (to cycle across), from the Cheam to the Stoneleigh side?

There doesn't seem to be a bus; the suggested routes include two trains (Stoneleigh to Epsom, Epsom to Cheam) and 45 minutes, regardless of how I look at it!

Much appreciated!

It is generally safe during the day - lots of school girls, dog walkers and families, but best to walk in a group after dark. Last year there were some incidents involving a flasher exposing himself to school girls - see the newspaper report

Does it close at dusk? http://www.epsomandewellhistoryexplorer ... hPark.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I believe road gates close at dusk, but the park is not fenced.

Hi,

Having lived in Cheam and used the park for a number of years I have to say I wouldn't want a child walking alone through Nonsuch Park in the daytime or nightime. Sadly there have been flashers, assaults etc in the park over the years. It is lovely park but not to be explored on your own.

Where is she travelling from currently? Are you close to North Cheam? From there she could get 151 or 213 bus into the village. You say your daughter is in the school.

Thank you for the quick responses.

We are around Motspur Park but it sounds like getting closer to the Stoneleigh side would not help the commute much.

Hi,

I have been looking at bus routes today for Nonsuch from Morden. Have you considered the 293 bus which goes past the Stoneleigh side or Nonsuch Park? Your daughter could get off at the Queen Victoria bus stop and then get another bus (I think 151 or X26) to Cheam village. Once there, it would be a quick walk to Nonsuch school. The whole journey shouldn't take more than 20/25 mins.

You say you are in Motspur Park now, does your daughter go by train or by bus at the moment?

The 151 runs from Worcester Park station, so train from Motspur Park to WP then bus? https://tfl.gov.uk/bus/timetable/151/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
