KS2 Scaled Scores and conversion table

Post by Petitpois »

Looking at the advice, this seems very similar to standardised scores on the 11+.

Any one had thoughts on the cohort and Standard Deviation that they will use.

My guess is that it will be

St Dev = 15 (same as for 11+)
Cohort average KS1 = 25% All subjects
Cohort Average KS2 = 40% All subjects

Logic being that significant numbers of of kids will not be able to cope with the exam or content.

Not seen anything regarding age standardisation, but assuming this will be in the coneversion table

The things we definitely know from the DfE papers are that a scaled score of 100 represents "national expectations" but that more than 50% of children (maybe 85% or more???) will score 100 or more. So it's not a bell curve centred around 100.p i

They are wanting the "standard" to score 100 to remain the same over the years, I think. So I guess the plan is that as tme goes by the bump in the bell curve will move further to the right ............ until it can go no further. Then we need a new curriculum because everyone will be perfect according to the old one.
