Sutton Grammar School mocks bookings open (girls and boys)

Post by Strontium »

Just in case it's of interest... the SGS mocks for this summer seem to be open now.

DD sat this two years ago and although she found it easier than the paper she eventually sat for Tiffin Girls, we thought that her ranking amongst the 2000+ kids that sat them was a useful indicator.

Do you happen to remember how the session was broken down time-wise? The morning sessions start at 9:00am and finish at 11:30am. My guess that each paper will last 45 minutes (i.e. 1½ hours total) which leaves an additional 1 hour unaccounted for. I know there'll be a break between the two papers, but 1 hour does seem a tad long. Does they just hang about during that time?

2 years ago the morning session started at 9.30 and ended at 11.30, so they must have changed the timings. Either the papers are longer, they've got the end time wrong, or they're having a very long break.

Several of the tests are already sold out. How many actually sit the test in each session?

I was on the site at 7:15am on the day they started taking bookings, and almost all sessions had exactly 165 spaces available, with a few at 163 or 164. So my guess is there are 165 spaces in each session.

Hi,
Are the SGS mock exams in the CEM style?
I have tried looking online but couldn't find this information.

Thanks

All they say in the FAQ is that "the English papers will be multiple choice and the Maths papers will require answers to be written onto the exam paper with workings". As I understand it, the real tests are more GL-style than CEM-style - so I'd expect the SGS PTA mocks to be too.

They are not CEM mocks, there are plenty of other places to go for that. But the MC English paper will be the same as a CEM English Comprehension so would be worth doing for those you who have CEM only exams. DG
