First Preferences for Bucks Grammars on CAF

Post by MrsH173015 »

Sally-Anne, in years gone by I know around this time of year you were able to work your magic and come up with figures on what people had chosen as their first preference on their CAF forms. This gave a rough guide which, when cross referenced with historic allocation figures, gave some insight into likely distances each Grammar may be able offer to. Do you have that information this year please?

I do indeed - the comparison of 2015 with 2016 is as follows:

Golly! +73 on SWBGS (although my gut feeling is 2015 was v low for them which ties in with the low number of qualifiers out here for 2015) - I know as a catchment sibling we will be fine but still makes you go eeek!

Any info as to catchment / ooc etc to settle my nerves :D

It would be interesting to know how many children who put schools as their first preference passed the 11+ ?

I believe this data is post qualification - but not sure whether successful reviews are included.

So does it not include those going straight to appeal who have put a GS as 1st preference?

Thank you, Guest55. I think you are right. Taking into account this one

and subtracting a chunk from Greater London kids (using Bucks exam like a mock and preferring smth else in London) , Surrey etc the figure is about right - 2,353.

No breakdown for the preferences themselves, but the OoC qualifying figure (pre-review) was consistent with last year. In Wycombe there were roughly 100 additional qualifiers, but last year was an unusually low figure.

At a guess, for SWB you're probably looking at a distance similar to that for 2014 admission - out-area by 4 miles.

ETA: The data is indeed post-qualification, and I suspect it includes successful reviews, but I can't be absolutely sure of that. I may be able to sort that out later.

It'll be great if the distance goes back to that (ds is part of the 2014 intake) - I know we will be fine but when you see how many more then PAN have put it at first choice then even strong nerves would waiver (and mine are not strong at the best of times :D )
