help please with z question

I have started going through the types of questions with my son using the recommended technique book and have come across a question that I can't work out. The answer is given as 14 and my son and I think it should be 22. It is number 38 on the practice paper B in this book. Can you show us where we are going wrong? Thanks

Strangely, I have an old print of this question putting Isabella at the age of 4, which then works out at the correct answer of 14. Thats why I always remeber it...
