Ms Devon's position was being axed to avoid "confusion". (Said DfE)
Great, that is clear then. She advised the Government that their testing regime was putting too much pressure on children, who might suffer mental health consequences.
This confused the Government - no, their policy was right, how could anyone think otherwise? So they sacked her.
"Natasha has done a great job of helping us to raise the profile of young people's mental health since her appointment last year," said the spokeswoman.
In fact, she has done such a good job of raising this profile that we are finding increasingly that we have nowhere left to hide on the matter.

Oh no, of course it wasn't connected at all! Perish the very thought.

Natasha Devon who was appointed last August used a head teachers' conference last week to highlight the level of mental strain being put on pupils.
No wonder she had to go, she shouldn't have tried to steal limelight from Nicky! (use of exclamation mark most likely against current guidelines  )
It felt like I hit rock bottom; suddenly, there was knocking from beneath... (anon.)

Not only was she concerned about child mental health, but she was concerned about teachers too. Imagine that!!!!!!!

Sadly I'm not surprised, just disappointed.

She was off message so had to go. Tragic that our elected representatives seem to be working for their own good rather than what is actually a life and death issue to some young people.
