R.I.P Muhammad Ali
He was so much more than a boxer, a true inspiration and his legacy lives on.
My favourite quote?
Don't count the days, make the days count.

A wonderful quote and so very true.
It felt like I hit rock bottom; suddenly, there was knocking from beneath... (anon.)

He also said:
I wish people would love everybody else the way they love me. It would be a better world.
When I ponder about all the reports on BBC news on his passing away, I wish that what he said were true!
He has been a shining example of truth, courage and justice, as he continued to proclaim and publicly live by his beliefs.
As war unfolded in Vietnam, he objected to serving in the military. He referenced the mistreatment of black Americans, saying he refused to co-operate with the US government in oppressing another race of people. He was stripped of his boxing heavyweight championship title and lost several years of his career. Few athletes would have sacrificed as much for their beliefs as he did.
Muhammad Ali isn't just one of the great sportsmen of all time, he touched the hearts of millions over decades and won the world over with his commitment to his principles.

The Greatest sportsman in history in the most brutal of all sports and one of the most intelligent popular man ever, although, his recorded IQ was in lowest 1/4 quantile at elementary school.
What does does that tell us about 11+ or CAT tests.

I am presently watching the interfaith funeral of Mohammad Ali and love how the organisers and different speakers have taken the opportunity of his death to bring a bit of peace and humour to this world, mirroring his own beliefs and fights for equality whatever the ethnicity or religion.

Re: R.I.P Muhammad Ali
In life and death he will be one of the 20th centuries greatest sporting icons and its greatest boxer. The memories I want to keep of him revolve around the same time TV began to appear in our living room from the late 60s to the early 80s. He was a phenomena, a star who shone so brightly but who faded slowly over the last 30 years.I remember the fights with Joe Frazier, Joe Bugner,George Foreman,Henry Cooper and Richard Dunn amongst his many over the years.I also saw him as part of the civil rights movement with his rhetoric and his refusal to fight in the Vietnam War.
Whiles't he has been dignified in his retirement doing charitable and religious works he has gone without the fanfare he truly deserved and his achievements necessitated. He will be an inspiration to future generations.RIP.
