Writing on the Bexley question paper

Post by salsa »

Hi all,

Would you know if children can write on the question paper? If not, are they provided with scrap paper for calculations, etc?

What happens if you do write when you shouldn't?

Many thanks,

Salsa

Which paper? Bexley, Newstead or St Olaves? I will ask DD tonight (if it was one of the first two and if she remembers from last year of course!). Main thing is NOT to mark the answer paper with anything other than the mark and make sure you mark the box clearly and not diagonally as the machine reader may discount it as it doesn't go all the way across.

Sorry, Bexley. I should have made it clear. (I'll try to edit the title)

Thank you for asking your daughter. I know it's a year ago. My eldest doesn't remember as he took it three years ago.

DS did the test last year and said he did workings out on the question paper for Bexley test. He had a scrap paper for Kent. From what I have heard before, both Kent and Bexley are ok with children doing their calculation on the question paper as long as they are careful not to do any such thing on the answer sheet.

DD says she has a clearer recollection of Kent than Bexley so can't say. She remembers you could write on the Kent question paper but had to rub anything you wrote on it out so it was best to use scrap paper.

Brilliant! I emailed Bexley who didn't want to say! They said that they wouldn't know as they didn't have the paper, so I asked how it was last year and got no response.
