CSSE Maths - any good books for long questions

Post by kbodh »

Hi,
We did Schofiled & Sims and Bond 11 to 12. We are struggling on long questions in past exam papers.
Is there any good book or any pdfs available from any tutor websites topics like sequences, venn diagram , graphs and volume.

Which schofield and sims did you use? The mental arithmetic are short questioned. I quickly gave up on them and used the problem solving books and the 11 plus maths progress papers books 1 to 3 which have venn diagramms, graphs etc.

I would recommend Book 6 in Sims and Schofield, it has quite a few long questions in section C of each paper, focusing on the problem solving side.

The numerical reasoning books from first past the post were also good.

At this stage, I would recommend doing lots of past papers, I "re-used" some questions by changing the numbers a little, so my DS could practice technique but not remember the answer!

I feel first past the post maths is good for long maths and for short we are doing mental arithmetic book 5.
