Head Teacher Appeals
If a head teacher has appealed on a pupils behalf before the admission letter arrives and has been told a child has a grammar place (not according to letter received by parent) and we have been told we have 3rd place according to letter, but shows on letter also that child has passed 11+, what is the true place of secondary for child? Does headteacher's appeal mean she is allocated a place at Grammar even though not on letter?

Hi Tracey,
Without all the details I can only offer what I interpret it as.
Please correct were I'm wrong.
Head Teacher appeals for your child (Who didn't reach required grammar school score??)
Head Teacher was successful?
Therefore putting your child on an even playing field with children that did reach qualifying score.
Then the admission criteria goes into play SEN/Looked after children/Siblings/Distance.. ect
Is the school over subscribed?
Are you on a waiting list?
Your letter clearly shows your child met the standard (Head teacher's successful appeal) but due to other admission criteria your child didn't gain a place.
If this is the case your appeal will be for over subscription not non-qual
