Is it calculation error ??
Just a question on the results for my DS who has scored Total Standardised Score of 239 as per the letter.
NVR : 123.06/142.03
Num: 126.86/135.96
VR: 115/145.19
which to me should be ((NVR+NUM)/2)+VR
therefore 123.06+126.86 = 249.92 /2 = 124.96+115=239.96, i.e, 240
as there are 20 kids are the same rank I want to contest it, for obvious reasons.
Please write if I'm right, if so, what should be the next step please.
Please guide me thru the process please.

Just a quick reply, but unfortunately CEM Policy is to round down - please see this thread: http://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/forum/ ... ed#p539210" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I will come back to the thread later to see if I can add any more pearls of wisdom, but Warks specialists may be able to offer more help.

Is this Warks, Another Parent? Have never seen marks to decimal places here before, but then I haven't seen this year's letter. If it is Warks, then 239 is a great score for any of our GSs ...

Oops! Sorry - that may have been me assuming this was Warks. Apologies if that created confusion - it's a bit busy on here at present, and I may be seeing double by now!JamesDean wrote:Is this Warks, Another Parent? Could def be Warks, S-A, as we do get rankings and are told how many DC share it. Not sure which other LAs also do so?

I'm not going quite as mad as I thought - the OP has posted the same score of 239 on Warks. I must have checked that before posting, albeit in huge haste!

I think the thing is that you have to 'pass' a score - rather like age, for example, one is 'in one's 40th year' but one is '39 years of age'.
If you translate your DS's score downwards to around the (?'a', do you actually have a pass mark in your area?) pass mark, if the pass mark is, say, 121, then someone who has a standardised score of 120.88 hasn't actually achieved a pass.
Although I don't really see why you don't get an individual ranking, if they do tell you your 'fine' score, rather than rounding it down and giving everyone the same rank? Have I dreadfully misunderstood something?

Have done a quick search and AP is indeed in Warks and aiming for KES.
Hi AP - can you confirm that the 20 sharing the rank are all southern boys or is that overall? If indeed it is 20, then as this rank spans the school's PAN of 81, places would be offered based on distance from Stratford. However, there will be boys ranked higher who will be applying for AGS, the B'ham grammars or indie schools instead.
AQS last year was 232 - 239 would be a huge leap!

Re: Is it calculation error ??
Thanks a lot everyone for quick reply from all of you. Very experienced people in here just from the scores alone you could make out I'm from Warwick area. Now from the letter alone, the example they have given, the marks are rounded up to the nearest whole number. Just trying my luck.
Overall rank is 236. We are trying for KES with PAN 81 and if i look at Boys in the Southern Grammar Circle his ranking is 70. Looks promising, but don't actually know much about how to decipher all this.

Yes you're right this is Warks, Thanks for the reassurance that the scores are good. He needs to get in to KES with PAN of 81 at no 1, not easy by any mean.JamesDean wrote:Is this Warks, Another Parent?
