Commute to Dchs from Northwood

Post by Mum2girlz »

Dear all,
My daughter will be going to DCHS starting this sept 2017. Wanted to check if anyone of their kids will be travelling from northwood/ northwood hills/pinner.
It will be good for them to travel together.
Thanks

Is there a welcome day this term? If so you might be able to find other parents in a similar position? Alternatively perhaps you could ask the school and then (if allowed) try to make contact?

Sorry, may I ask, did the catchment of 8.25 this year reach upto northwood/Pinner areas?

I'm guessing Northwood would be right on the edge of it, and would doubt it would go as far as Pinner.

Scary mum is it likely the catchment will stretch further in the second round of allocations in April?

Scary doesn't have my crystal ball. Well, at least, she can access it, but she may not have all the details, and she isn't a DCHS parent.

In 2015, DCHS went some considerable distance further in the 2nd round because (IIRC) they added an extra class after 1st March.

Other than that (and as you can see) the distance has increased by a mile or so each year.

8 months in advance? No! I base my predictions on the numbers of first preferences for each school, and those aren't published until January.

If you look at the Allocation Profiles though, you will see that trends emerge over several years, so whatever the pattern has been lately, it is likely to be similar for a year or two.

For example, Chesham Grammar has become increasingly popular, so it isn't suddenly going to become "All Offered" overnight. Similarly, Wycombe High School has become less popular, so it isn't suddenly going to be "In Area" only next year.
