Dr Challoners from Rickmansworth!

Hello everyone
So that dreaded time has come round again, this time I'm registering my son for the 11+. We are in Rickmansworth and I just wondered what the chances of us being accepted into Dr Challoners are, provided he scores highly enough. Has anyone from this far ever got in? I understand you have to score over 121 to be eligible then they will allocate those who qualified by distance, is that correct?

They should give you a good indication of whether you stand any chance or no chance at all.

Score is irrelevant as long as they get 121 or over.

I would say the chances are practically zero - you really need to be in catchment by April in Year 5.

Gosh we've got no chance from Ricky then! Thank you so much for that, it's a really helpful chart! Disappointed tbh, really wanted the school but can't move nearer as I have a daughter at Watford Girls.

Phew, lucky I did, don't think he'd have been very impressed!

There is no harm in taking the test and putting the school down if that is the school you want. We live out of catchment and got in to DCGS. My son has been there since year 7 and now in sixth form and absolutely loves it!! You never know!

bear - if you look at the allocation you can see that you were very fortunate and that year was a one off.
It will not happen again.

Please don't raise totally unrealistic hopes.

Indeed. bear, your son was obviously admitted in 2011, which is when the school changed the deadline for residence at extremely short notice. That caught out a lot of those who would otherwise have moved to the area, legitimately or otherwise ...

Other than that, I don't believe that the school has ever allocated beyond the borders of Bucks for Y7 entry.
