query: why different cut off for herschel and langley
Hi, sorry for sounding silly but how come that when HG and LG had same test, children with 116(LG) are not offered a place at herschel?
This was posted previously.... and can only think that the 'first preference' within the consortium can be the only reason. The only reason I can imagine people not receiving offers from Herschel with a suitable score would be whether or not Herschel was 1st Preference on the consortium form. If you scored 115 and put Langley as 1st Pref and Herschel as 2nd pref NEITHER SCHOOL WILL OFFER A PLACE.
The heads at both schools were adamant on open evenings that they only ever make offers to scoring pupils who list their school as 1st preference.
This is one of the reasons I believe Slough pulled out of the consortium as their system was not fair on pupils taking the tests.
