SATs books

Post by Frankie101 »

My dd has done the 11+ this year and passed and am now looking for preparing her for SATs in summer. Can anyone recommend the best books and prep for SATS. Thank you.

There's no need - schools will do plenty of questions and past papers.

There's no exam board - the whole of England does the same tests.

Oh okay. Sorry for the questions but mind has been so focused on 11+ that I have no idea of the next step!

It's fine - I expect school will have a meeting once the dates for the tests come out.

My advice would be to give DC a break, the schools do all the prep required anyway. Post 11 + we gave our DS a complete break from everything (with the exception of reading). We felt he needed it, and wanted him to chill before heading to grammar. They have to work so hard at secondary, the break will do you DC good.

I totally agree. I wasn't sure if I meant to prep for SATS but spoke to teachers and they said not to. So I now have a happy DD who will be taking a break in Year 6!

11+ is for your child's benefit. SATs are for the benefit of the school and government. After all the hard work in year 5, let them relax and enjoy year 6.

Sparklecat - that is just not true. The KS2 test results are passed on to the Secondary school and generate the GCSE targets - the Secondary school is judged on progress from KS2.
