Past papers

Post by gcse parent 001 »

Could you please recommend a good site with paper and answers/marking scheme for the core gcse subjects? Thanks in advance.

Any of the websites for the boards that your DC is sitting for that subject.

The main exam boards are:

AQA: http://www.aqa.org.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Edexcel: https://qualifications.pearson.com/en/home.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
OCR: http://www.ocr.org.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I also recommend the examiners reports as they often give example of good answers and give feedback on where students went wrong.

The papers are usually available about a year after the exam. Do NOT let your child try and find the 2017 papers as this will mean the mock is a complete waste of time.

Presumably there aren't very many for the new GCSEs?

The exam boards have prepared lots of mock papers and additional resources for teachers as they are trying to keep market share.

The old papers can still be useful.

No - all the boards are regulated to make sure the standard is the same.

I tried looking at these on the AQA maths site but they say you need to log in to view them, does anyone know if they are available to view as a parent/student or only if you are a teacher? I have just sat some professional exams and found the examiners reports invaluable so I would like to view these if I can in order to try and help DD with her GCSE's.

Thanks

You should be able to access the 2016 or earlier ones - 2017 should be unlocked soon.
