Difference between Habs Boys and Habs Girls fees

Post by Middlesexmum »

Whilst checking the current fees for Habs Girls, I compared the boys' fees out of interest, there is a difference of about £600/term!

I'm curious to know why this is, does anyone know?

Are the fees higher at the boys' school? I know that they were historically but I think that's because originally the girls' school was a direct grant school, but that's way back before the dawn of time. Maybe one include things that the other doesn't - eg lunch, books, exams? It is quite a difference though. Perhaps just due to market forces?

Boys - £6,490 per term
Girls - £5,811 per term

Not sure if either includes lunches or not.

Some schools have more in the way of endowment funds which are used to reduce the fees overall - maybe that is what happens here .. or maybe the boys have more expensive sports facilities??

Cant remember details but on the tours, the boys school felt bigger with more facilities.

Or... Girls eat less?

What facilities do the boys school have that the girls school doesn't?

Don’t remember the girls having sports complex. And maybe...a track?

From what I could see, the girls have fantastic sports facilities including a pool.

Check class sizes, ratio of pupils to staff, range of subjects and sports, number of PE staff especially, ground staff. Majority of school fees go into staffing.

I have been tracking local fees (north London /Herts) for several years as part of our financial and fees planning, and average boys school fees have always been higher than girls. I don't think it has anything to do with facilities etc, it's just supply and demand.

I think the girls schools have started to close the gap though in recent years as they are closer than they were.
