Good afternoon,

first time here.

my son's score is 337.682 (catchment area). sadly not been offered at KEGS as 1st choice. what's the lowest for catchment, anyone knows ?? instead, a place has been offered at Westcliff boys which were our 3rd choice not mention its only 22 miles away from my home address? being a single parent it's almost impossible to commute every day to Westcliff from Chelmsford.

question is, can I reject this offer at Westcliff boys school and is there any possibility to get a place at KEGS ??

any positive thoughts and ideas will be highly appreciated !!

Many thanks

No, don't reject offer from Westcliff. Accept it but ask to be put on waiting list for KEGs.

Firstly, well done to your son getting a place at Westcliff - it’s an excellent school.

Many boys travel there from Chelmsford. I know some use the SBC contract bus (SBCLeisure.com). Certainly don’t turn down the place at this stage as you would be left without a school place. You are automatically on the waiting list for KEGS and your offer email tells you how to check your waiting list position from 15th March. Then you will have a better idea of whether your son is likely to get a place.

If that doesn’t look likely, then you are left with the Westcliff option, which hopefully you liked. The journey may seem daunting, but many boys do it and it doesn’t really bother them at all!

Hope this helps

Out of interest, why did you even put WHSB on your CAF? You didn't have to name it at all, if getting there is so difficult.
