six state schools accepting Pre-u

Post by T.i.p.s.y »

Just read three articles that six state schools will be accepting the Pre-U. Does anyone know what schools they are? I expect they may be grammar schools so I was wondering if anyone had heard anything?

I'm probably being ignorant, but what's Pre-U?

It's a new qualification designed by Cambridge Uni to replace the A'levels. Most of the top private schools are opting for it as the government wouldn't recognise it, but it seems that they are allowing state schools to have it. It is supposed to be a tough exam however so the article said they expected it only to be taken up by grammar schools or top state schools, of which 6 have already.

Thanks for that - I wasn't aware of it - the only alternative qualification I've come across is the IB.
