Bham paper biased towards one subject?

Post by empty27 »

Hi,
First post, although have been through the process once before with DD!
I understand that the Birmingham consortium paper is standardised for each section and to take into account age, but is the paper weighted more towards one of the disciplines - VR or Maths??

May have answered my own question with the standardisation!

I'm pretty sure it's 25% nvr, 25% maths and 50% english - but I have no idea whether nvr and maths scores are added together before they're standardised or after.

Thank you. In the back of my mind I thought this as well, but couldn't remember. DS is definitely weaker on the maths side (really struggles with the speed element, though he can do the actual maths) so I'm hoping he can pull a few marks back on the Verbal!

Watch out for NVR, it's unreal; its like 3 mins for 15 questions sort of thing.

12s per question for NVR does not sound too daunting, I suspect at this level the questions are straightforward and not MENSA level.
