Hello
I hope this makes sense.
I understand the pass mark is 121.
How do we at home know what is good enough to consider to be a pass? So if DC is doing a Bond 10 minute test how many out of 20 should they be getting for us to feel happy that we are going in the right direction? Obviously 100% would be ideal but is 75% correct good enough?
Or is this a question that just can't be answered?

The qualification score is 121 but that is set so the top third or so qualify. The % of raw marks needed depends on the cohort.

ok, thought that was the case. In your opinion what would you expect your child to be scoring for you to be happy that progress was being made?

There’s no definite level: because this is a cohort test.
If 100 Einsteins enter this year and all get 18 out of twenty or higher, you will still end up with 33% “passing” the exam and 67 “not passing”.
If 100 illiterate cavemen called “Ug” enter, and all get 2 out of 20 or less, 33% of them will still “pass” and 67% will “not pass”.
What is a good sign: child attempting all practice questions in the recommended time available. Child getting most of the answers most of the time (though not all: these are real children not robots).
The real secret when DIYing is to actually go through answers together to check understanding: praise for correct answers (esp
If tricky) Use incorrect answers as a guide of what to explain again to them, and to target any weaker/missed areas for future testing.
Avoid long lists of meaningless word learning, repeating the same tests, and doing too many “full” papers. Some poor souls are drilled and drilled withiut having their answers explained, it makes the summer miserable. Let your children have fun and always have a 1-2 week break at some point over the summer: they deserve it.
