On the flip side there are those for whom money is everything as well as going to a Russel Group university, best to have all the resources available. I suppose its like those on this site that want their kids to go to grammar skool over a state comp, head for success as the motto states.

Success is more than money - it's being happy and fulfilled.timothylewin wrote:head for success as the motto states.
Do you really rate 'money' higher than well-being?
Even if you do the data you linked to is flawed as well as the methodology.

But Guest55, there are those for whom 'money' (as opposed to earning enough to provide comfortably or at least adequately for one's needs) is wellbeing...Guest55 wrote:Success is more than money - it's being happy and fulfilled.timothylewin wrote:head for success as the motto states.

In these days, can one be ‘happy’ with ‘no money’?
One can be the unhappy despite having loads of money, but perhaps even monks will not be happy with no money.

Seriously, no-one is actually advocating 'no money' as an alternative to (the pursuit of for its own sake / the means to acquiring as much of it as possible being the only criterion upon which to choose one's university course) 'money' .tiffinboys wrote:In these days, can one be ‘happy’ with ‘no money’?

Pretty sure this is daughter's career plan, may have been watching too much "Windsors". She has to get the grades to get to a uni frequented by posh people first though.Amber wrote:...I could just advise my children to hang around stately homes in their best clothes hoping to meet and wow minor royals, with the ambition of marrying into old money and getting rich that way. Similarly rewarding, I imagine.
ETA - for various reasons, we know more monks than millionaires (I think) and can assure anyone interested that they are indeed extraordinarily happy despite having no money at all.
