Help with maths questions - GL pack 3
Can anyone help in explaining the following please?
y is 1/2 of x
Which of the following is incorrect?
x = 2y
y = 2x Answer ( Dd thought this was correct)
y = x/2
x/y = 2
y/x = 1/2

If y is half of x, x is obviously bigger than y.
Therefore y= 2x cannot be right as 2x effectively means 2 times x.
If x is bigger than y already, multiplying it by 2 is going to make it even bigger, therefore y cannot possibly = 2x!!!

Try thinking in numbers as well. y is 1/2 of x is the same as 5 is half of 10 ...
y .... x
5 .....10
so then test out.
y .... x
5 .....10
