Next round of Buckinghamshire allocations

Post by jonydad »

Hi
The 3rd allocations happened on June 29th. Unfortunately, it didn't bring the news we were expecting. When will next round of allocation will happen? At what point/time, the school will takeover of the waitlist from the BCC?

Thanks

Presumably you've seen this?

https://www.buckscc.gov.uk/services/edu ... on-rounds/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

"After 29 June 2018, we will offer any further places as they become available. There are usually very few at this time in the year.

The nearer we get to the start of September the fewer places we have to offer and the less likely it is that a place will become available at your preferred school. If there have been successful admission appeals for a school we will not be able to offer any places unless the number of children due to join the school in September 2018 falls to below the school’s Admission Number." [my bold]

With appeals happening most school will go above PAN so I think you won't hear anything now. Were you expecting to hear something?

Yes Guest55, we were expecting a place being offered on 3rd round at least. As you have pointed out, successful admission appeals make the number above PAN. If that is the case, the order of wait list will change?

Did your DD get her Camp Hill place, though?

We didn't list CHG on the CAF in the end. It is Dr.Challoners High School that we are interested in.

Where are you on the waiting list? I think you'll need to go with the allocated school for September and presumably your daughter has been to the Induction Day already?

yes, she already attended the Induction Day last week. We are on waitlist #5 as on June 29th. Not sure, it's of any hopeful.

I’m afraid I think it highly unlikely that five people will give up theirs places this late on, so I think you should assume your daughter will start at her allocated school. Which school is that and are you happy with it?

She currently has offer from WHS. She liked DCHS better and some of her friends are going there.

Many friendships from primary school are usurped by new friendships anyway, even when those friends attend the same school, so I wouldn’t be concerned about that. Is travel to WHS convenient? If it is, and if it’s more convenient than the commute to DCHS, that’s a really positive thing. Accentuate the positives of WHS to your daughter. I’m sure she’ll be happy there. Good luck!
