GL Variety maths pack 7
Good Morning
Dd is struggling with q 46 on this maths pack. If anyone by chance has the pack to hand & can explain the answer it would be very much appreciated. It relates to a series of 3 patterns with triangles and asks which formula represents the number of tiles in the nth pattern in the series. The answer is 1 + 2n.
Sorry I have no idea how to upload a pic of the question.
Thank you in advance

I can’t help with the question, but info on how to post a picture can be found here

Although we normally say pictures are restricted to the rehab section of the forum, we do allow in other areas in circumstances like this.

Re: GL Variety maths pack 7
The first pattern has 3 triangle, second has 5 and third has 7 so the sequence is:
3,5,7... (add 2).
If add 2 we start with 2n ( add 3 start with 3n). If n=1 we have 2n=2 because the first number is 3 we have to add 1 more, therefore 2n +1.
Hope that helps.

Tinkers - Thank you, will take a look at that. Am utterly useless with techie bits!
Qeb2019 - Thank you so much. Will show that explanation to my daughter in the morning - am sure she will be able to make sense of that now, thanks again

Re: GL Variety maths pack 7
Can anyone explain why the answer to the question below is £33 please?
Leatown is holding its annual fun run.
Medals are given to all finishers.
The cost, in pence, of n medals is given by the expression
300 + 20n
How much will 150 medals cost?
Thank you in advance

Re: GL Variety maths pack 7
We need to substitute 150 for n as this is how many medals we want.kal12003 wrote:Leatown is holding its annual fun run.

Cost = 300 + (20 x 150) = 300 + 3000 = 3300p
