Having a slight last minute wobble. My son has been doing fine on NVR books/test all year, did v well in CAT test etc. He's just done two of the four CGP papers (the ones with six sections of six minutes/twelve questions each) and found them incredibly hard - scored 50% in each - compared with 85-90% in other books. Has anyone else found these ones particularly different/hard compared to others? Don't know how worried I should be.

Seem to recall we had similar with random CGP books.

Relax. Stick to the GL stuff. If they don't know it by now, they never will.

Thanks, that's reassuring. By GL materials, do you mean the free sample papers?

Welcome to the forum. Have you had a look at the Kent section of the forum? Right at the very top there's some useful links to Kent prep material. There's also some useful stuff in the preparation section of the forum.

Please don't panic he may just have been a little thrown by the different format of the paper you gave him. Good luck.

Yes, they were harder, as I recall. Please don't panic. For Kent last year, we took the advice of others and DS did papers/work in the two days before the tests and it really worked (didn't do the same in other 11+ tests sadly and although DS passed those, it showed in the results and he commented on it himself).

Perhaps also have a look at the familiarisation papers on GL? https://www.gl-assessment.co.uk/products/11plus-series-11-plus-practice-papers/11plus-familiarisation-materials/

Funnily enough, we did the opposite. Did pretty much nothing for the last few days, apart from discuss the test lightly, talk about tactics on the day and generally wind down from the hard work of the previous months. Worked for us. Every child is different.
