DD put on waitlist for Wycombe Abbey
Hi, we have received the outcome of DD assessment day at Wycombe Abbey and she has been put on the waitlist. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of the likely hood of her being offered a conditional plac subject to common entrance in Jan? Any advice greatly appreciated.

You might get a more informed response if you ask the Mods to move your thread to 'Independent Schools' or the appropriate geographical area.

If you call them they should be able to give you some indication of realistic odds of success. They will also be able to give you feedback.
Good luck, sent you a PM.

Some students use Wycombe Abbey as a back up for other schools so hopefully you might hear something in February in terms of parents turning it down for other private schools and March for parents turning it down for state schools. DG

Is Wycombe Abbey not as highly regarded as other private schools then? Is that why there are few enquiries on this forum about the school?Daogroupie wrote:Some students use Wycombe Abbey as a back up for other schools so hopefully you might hear something in February in terms of parents turning it down for other private schools and March for parents turning it down for state schools. The quote I found on the internet was along the lines that the girls work harder there than at any other school the observer had come across. To the extent that university for them would be a doddle.BucksBornNBred wrote:Is Wycombe Abbey not as highly regarded as other private schools then? (Recent A levels 95% A* - B?).
So someone, at least, sees it as the Henrietta Barnett of the fee-paying sector.
