Bromley - Making changes to CAF after the deadline

Post by Exams2018 »

Hello everyone,
We submitted our CAF (Bromley) well ahead of the deadline. We now think our choice2 should have been our choice 1.

DD luckily scored well for both schools. Does anyone know if we can swap them now or ask choice1 to be deleted?

You would have to speak to your LA but I suspect that if you make a change now, after the National CAF deadlien of 31st october that your application would then be classed as late and would be processed after the 1st allocation round in March.

Put it this way, I would be very surprised if they didn't d the above otherwise, to be frank, what is the point of the deadline?!

I don;t think there is anything you can do at this stage but I think you can ask to be on the waiting list for school (2) after the allocations in March. Presumably you would be highish up the list?

This happened to us a couple of years ago. We were given our first choice school but had changed our mind and wanted our second choice. We had to submit a full new application for the second school and only after that had been completed and sent to the LEA and then forwarded by the LEA to the second school could we go on the waiting list for a place there.

We were fortunate to receive a place at the second school as my DS was at the top of the waiting list (he would presumably have received an offer in the first round if we'd put the school at the top of the form) but, to help prepare you, the wait for a waiting list place was stressful and the paperwork was more complicated than I'd expected.

Are the schools you're applying for in Bromley or is it just the CAF? If they're Kent schools, you can go on the waiting list immediately for a lower preference.

Funnily enough, Bromley is the LEA I quoted in response to a similar query elsewhere on the forum (prompted to look at their policy by something i remembered another member having said the year before about the borough).

It may be that these are dealt with after (even if only some) late applicants who are requesting a place at a school as an additional preference - Bromley do this, for example.
