writing in the style of an author?
one of the requirements on the syllabus for comprehension is to "use the given text and write a paragraph in the style of an author" - how would you approach this requirement? We have not seen such question in our comprehension books/ resources. please help.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: writing in the style of an author?
Which syllabus are you referring to?
Re: writing in the style of an author?
...in the style of the author?
If that’s the case, read it carefully and pick out key points about the style. Try to use these in your own writing.
Is this from a test paper or the National Curriculum?
You have been given a lot of advice since you first posted it might be nice for you to at least acknowledge the people who have spent time trying to help you.

+ 1. So many threads with so many questions and never a word of acknowledgement or thanks.yoyo123 wrote:

It is very short sighted.

In fairness to the OP (schooling123), she does now say "thanks" in advance.
Despite that, schooling123, it is good if you can actually come back to the forum and tell us if the advice has been useful. I think that is what people are really expecting, and it will also help future readers of your threads.

But meanwhile, back to piggys' question...
Apologies for not totally serious post. But... you tell us nothing about this 'syllabus' - this is an 11+ forum, but every stage from EYFS to postgraduate degree level education is discussed on it and you will get better targeted help if you are a little more forthcoming with the details.
If it really is 'in the style of an author', rather than, 'in the style of the author...', that is, the author of the passage you have just read - and assuming that it is actually, 'in the style of named author x', rather than, 'in the style of someone whose job is to write things', then I would assume the author concerned would be someone whose works you had studied ?piggys wrote:Which syllabus are you referring to?

Re: writing in the style of an author?
the syllabus if for an independent school, and yes it is in the style of the author. How to approach this question please? Thanks.
Re: writing in the style of an author?
Without the given text and the question it is almost impossible for anyone to give you any more advice than you have already been given.
Was it in the style of the author who wrote the text?
We can’t tell you how to approach a task if we don’t know what that task is.
