Comprehension - read questions before the passage?

Post by schooling123 »

Hi. Would you advise to read questions before the passage or passage first + annotations? What are your strategies please?

Like piggy’s, OP, I would caution changing the advice you have given your child thus far, with just 2 weeks to go! You risk completely confusing them and are unlikely to make huge gains.

Just let them know that you love them whatever happens, and that they should do their best but not worry as nothing is the be all and end all.

Is this another example of our much-maligned primary being unfairly looked down upon? Just checked with DS2 as to whether he ever did comprehension exercises there, before they started cramming for KS2 SATs - and got the answer, 'Yes, all the time'.

Schooling123, what does your DS's school advise? You may just be confusing him. And even more, at this point, if you try to implement any or all the suggestions us out here on t'web may come up with...?
