Don't understand reason for unsuccessful review.
Can anyone throw any light on this?
The reason given for the unsuccessful selection review was that the academic evidence didn't explain the shortfall in marks.
I don't understand how the academic evidence could be used in this way. My daughter has been predicted greater depth in reading and 111_120 in maths and writing. Her headteacher's recommendation was a 1:1. The panel agreed that her predicted marks were in line with her current evidence.
If her evidence is good how can it be used to say she didn't qualify???
Thanks for any advice

Sorry to hear your news
What was her score in the 11 plus? And how many from the school with a 1:1 recommendation passed?

Her score was only 103, so I'm not totally surprised with the outcome of the review. I don't know how well the head did in predicting passes.
The head said she wouldn't struggle at grammar, but would fly. I think she just had a bad test day. There were extenuating circumstances, but these weren't deemed sufficient. Not really sure what to do now.

Welcome to Appeals!
If no one can explain what criteria were used for your review, it is arguable that the process could not have been fair, consistent and objective.
Be sure to read the Bucks sticky:

(Although it is still dated "2018", we are not aware of any significant changes for 2019.)
At an appeal you will have the opportunity to ask "Why not?".Clairecone wrote:........ the academic evidence didn't explain the shortfall in marks.

You've nothing to lose by trying an appeal. Not really sure what to do now.
