LEH(Lady Eleanor Holles) Travel arrangements
Our DD's got an offer from LEH and we live in Ruislip/Hillingdon/Uxbridge area. We have checked their coach service and the nearest drop off is Ealing.
Looking for advice/suggestion from current or previous parents with DD's attending LEH from this area. We are willing to share a small bus or taxi if there are any DD's staring from this September.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum. It's quite a distance so I don't know if you will get any responses. You could maybe ask the school if there are people from the area? Google maps shows an expectation of a 1 hour 20 minute journey by car from Ruislip station to the school, in order to arrive at 8.30am. That's 2.5 to 3 hours per day in the car for up to 7 years.

Good luck. Unfortunately it won't get any closer! Do you have other options that you are happy with?

Yes we have 3 other offers but LEH is our first choice.

In that case, have you considered moving house? At least to somewhere on one of the school's bus routes, or better still, to somewhere on the same rail line as the nearest station, to give your DD more independence re travel and socialising with schoolfriends?Priya20 wrote:Yes we have 3 other offers but LEH is our first choice.

We just moved to Ruislip last year and won't moving again any soon.
I'm hoping that someone will be there in this forum with DD's attending LEH.

there may be some on the forum, I am not sure. If you aren't considering moving then consider one of the other schools - long school journeys are unbelievably draining on kids & parents and have adverse effects on socialising etc.
I had a long journey to school (well long enough) - 2 buses about 1 hr 20 mins, much quicker by car but that wasn't an option. It was not great, though the school bus bit was a laugh. When my kids went to senior school they could see the schools out of the kitchen window and could be there (or back) in 5 minutes. I can thoroughly recommend it

Re: LEH(Lady Eleanor Holles) Travel arrangements
Please do consider the advice you have given - an hour is the maximum suggested journey to school - you are looking at 1 hour 20 minutes without any hold ups - one way.... That is a hideous journey to inflict on a child in Y7 and gets no better as they go up the school, particularly if they cannot use public transport to get there under their own steam. This sort of journey time will impact on how well they do in school academically as well as meaning they will not be able to access all the extra curricular activities the school offers (and assumedly add to the reason you like the school in the first place.)

What are your DD’s other options?
