Missing child Alert

Post by bestpossibleoutcome »

Hello everyone,

I have just looked at the 'Finding Madeleine' website. The McCanns are supporting a Europe wide Amber Alert campaign. The expectation is that such an alert would mean cross border cooperation when a child is abducted. In order to take this forward in Europe (their site - Gerry's blog explains this) another 182 signatures are required.

I only posted this in the hope that a few of us, who all have children and who have probably all known that moment of panic when a child suddenly disappears from sight for a second, may wish to support the campaign.

My apologies to any mods who may think this forum is not the correct place for this post,

best wishes to all, and thank-you

How do I go about supporting this please?

I've just had a look at the website and read about it on his blog. Although the signatures are mentioned, I could not find WHERE or HOW to go about adding my signature...I too would be very happy to help them campaign for the amber alert system.
Please post if you know how we may do this...

I too had a quick look earlier.... From my understanding it is the signatures of MEP's (Member of European Parliament)that they need.... therefore to support the campaign you need to lobby your MEP.
I am happy to be corrected tho'. :)

I have found a link to the UK office for MEPs, it gives the contact details for regional members here:

and thank you,

It seems mad that so much would be involved in implimenting this system.

They run this very system in Canada and Arizona, it works well.

Still, shall lobby my MEP, that is if they have not already signed in agreement..

Quite the opposite.

I used my 1,000th post (the first fool to get there, needless to say) to highlight the tragedy of Madeleine McCann's disappearance.

I will follow up on the links and do what I can, and I would encourage everyone who sees this thread to do the same.

Thank you for posting the issue.

A quick surf reveals this site - you can email all your regional MEPs directly, just by entering your postcode:

http://www.writetothem.com/

Once you have written your message you have to go through a quick email verification process.

Please go for it, one and all.

Perhaps we should contact Gerry too and ask him to leave some clear instructions so that others can do the same.
