English Electronic Dictionary

Post by jmuk1610 »

Hi,

There are so many electronic dictionaries on the market and wanted to know which one would you recommend?

Thanks

Hi don’t go for a child one as it is limited in range from our experience but keen to see what other posts recommendations.

We have had two different types:

A Seiko ER6700 Concise Oxford Dictionary/ Thesaurus/ Encyclopedia. On the plus side it has a comprehensive range of vocab, easy to use and my son used his up until he finished his GCSEs. However it is quite expensive £40 plus I think and for a 10/11 year old the definitions aren't always easy to understand.

We also had a Franklin Collins English Dictionary. The definitions in this edition are much more child friendly and it is about half the price of the Seiko. However it doesn't have such an expansive bank of vocabulary as the Seiko.
