My DD is preparing her 11+ now and she seems to be having trouble with NVR.Is there any tips to improve her NVR over the holiday period.

We found that once the basics were mastered (as in, is it a rotation, flip etc.) then cross out the ones which is definitely isn’t. Generally this leaves 2 or 3 out of the possible 5 options which was easier to deal with.

It really is just a case of working out what the pattern / sequence is and eliminating the obvious quickly to leave fewer options.

10 minute tests do help, and try a variety of different patterns / sequences / rotations etc. to cover all bases.

Not sure if that helps, but it’s just practice and learning what the different type of scenarios / options that could come up are.

All the best.

Hi

We worked through the CGP NVR study book. Then we just kept on top of it with 10 minute tests. I think we might have also thrown in some Schofield & Sims ones for a change too. Work out the different question types, learn the strategies for different question types, practice & practice!

CEM have a tendency to throw in random 'new' question types so once confident with the basics, vary a bit to get your DC child used to the thinking or moving on & doing the ones they can.

Hope that helps.
