Sunday Times piece about A Level results

Post by Middlesexmum »

Did anyone else read the article in the Sunday Times last weekend (front page) about A Level results? Apparently up to half of results could be wrong due to discrepancy in marking, particularly in essay subjects such as English and History.

My dd needs an A in English for her university course so I am understandably worried about this article. How would you know if the marking has been done fairly and correctly? Most papers submitted for re-marking don't change as far as I understand.

Which board is this?

If it was front page news on the ST I am surprised the news channels have not picked this up.

There's been a piece up on TSR about it for a few days. No paywall.

The year ds1 did his A levels there was a problem with some of the geography results. His and a significant number of others were remarked and went up.
