Thank you! Very interesting. I’m not sure why it doesn’t cover the whole of the 6th form, but presumably there would be other cards for over 18 year olds?

There’s still the 16-24 one. Although it would make sense for the new one to cover all of sixth form.
Annoyingly I bought DD a 3 year 16-24 one last summer.

The cheapest way of getting railcards is to use Tesco vouchers (I think it was £15 of vouchers for a £30 railcards). We had some vouchers about to expire so the timing was perfect!

Only if you actually shop at Tesco.

Thanks Stow Mum, really good to know.
For London and Kent travellers on Southeastern they give Gold card (annual) season ticket holders the right to buy one railcard for family members for just £10 (rather than £30), it hasn’t had value for us as DD has her oyster and mostly uses the buses and when she does use the train it is peak times but hopefully this new card will be one of the ones available, it isn’t on the list yet. https://www.southeasternrailway.co.uk/t ... /railcards" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Last time I looked into this I thought that it didn't cover peak time travel unless the fare was over £12 (I think) so it wasn't really suitable for school travel. The new one seems specifically aimed at school travel.Tinkers wrote:There’s still the 16-24 one. Although it would make sense for the new one to cover all of sixth form.

Has anybody used the Tesco vouchers for this new rail card? I can see the option for the 16-24 railcard, but not this one.scary mum wrote:The cheapest way of getting railcards is to use Tesco vouchers (I think it was £15 of vouchers for a £30 railcards). I've just called Tesco. Not an option at the moment.
