Age Standardisation

Hi, new here.
I wonder if someone can explain this to me please?
My child was born in late August so obviously at a slight disadvantage compared to her classmates born much earlier in the year.
I think 'age standardisation' is done to the results of children born in each month, but I'd like to understand how it's actually worked out.
We are in Buckinghamshire, so it's the GL test. Not sure if this is relevant.
