Work Experience
My yr 11 son needs to organise some work experience. He’s looking for something science based, either Physics or Chemistry or Geophysics. We have plenty of contacts in engineering and healthcare, but he really wants something more lab/experimental based. Will ask for ideas once he’s back at school, but their suggestions at the end of term were more engineering based. Many thanks.

Re: Work Experience
Hospitals have labs for many different departments (histology, radiology etc) but whether they would let in a 15/16 year old, I very much doubt, but worth asking?
Re: Work Experience
Some will take them on over 16 but it's unlikely. One of my DSs ended up with an engineering work experience placement for the same reason, nowhere with labs would take him at 15 (usually insurance/liability issues).
scary mum
Re: Work Experience
I mentioned lab work to him, but he wasn’t over keen and I think the age thing may be a problem. Basically he’d love to talk about quantum physics all day. The engineering side just doesn’t interest him.
Re: Work Experience
My ds did a week of geophysics at Liverpool university but from memory it was year 12. Might be worth a look.
