Trafford pass marks

Does anyone have any idea of how well a child sitting the Trafford 11+ has to do (in terms of percentages of NFER paper) in order to pass the test.

My understanding is that an average between the three papers of 75% should do it. Of course this may change a little from year to year and depend upon when your child's birthday is. I have worked towards an average of 85% to allow a marjin of error and because my daughter has a November birthday.

If your child is taking the 11+ tomorrow I hope everything goes well for you. My daughter is taking it tomorrow and I am just hoping that we have done enough without having put her under too much pressure!

Chris, it's difficult to know exactly but here are a few observations:

Likely standardised score (SS) required to pass is 353

Standardised score for average raw score = 109

i.e. average score in each paper would give SS of 327.

So, they need to beat the average by an average 9 SS points per paper to get through. But remember that the SS for each paper could vary from 69 to 141 (lowest to highest raw score).

I hope that sheds some light, I personally think it is unhelpful to worry about 353/423 (pass/max) being equal to 83%. There is no way that getting 83% on the papers could make you a border line pass (is there)!
