I’m being really thick but how do we know if they’ve scored enough to apply for a place? Will we only know when we receive the letter?
Re: Warwickshire 11+ Results 2020 Entry: Scores
DD scored 233 in Eastern priority circle. Hoping for RHS.

You don't get given that information in Warwickshire - you have to apply based on what you know, which is previous AQS / Waiting list scores. (Or if you have enough spaces on your CAF apply to all the school you would like to consider you IN ORDER OF PREFERENCE). I have applied to all the schools that DS wants to consider, you never know what might happen with the AQS's, so best to go with your true preference.Klou wrote:I’m being really thick but how do we know if they’ve scored enough to apply for a place? Is it normal for the standardised score to be significantly lower than the total of the individual components? (Feb born child so mid-age range).

My understanding is that the Numeracy and NVR are averaged, then added to the Verbal reasoning score. Not sure how the age standardising is done.lanztc wrote:Is it normal for the standardised score to be significantly lower than the total of the individual components? I think you can be very confident of a place.Gav123 wrote:DD scored 233 in Eastern priority circle. Hoping for RHS.

I found the Numeracy + NVR divided by 2 and added to the Verbal reasoning = the score.lanztc wrote:Is it normal for the standardised score to be significantly lower than the total of the individual components? (Feb born child so mid-age range).

Re: Warwickshire 11+ Results 2020 Entry: Scores
Warwickshire usually do NVR + Numeracy = 50% and VR = 50% of score. (There is a correlation between aptitude in Numeracy and NVR and another correlation between ability in VR and good GCSE results) hence the previously used 33.3:33.3:33.3 weighting was deemed inappropriate a few years ago.
Re: Warwickshire 11+ Results 2020 Entry: Scores
Which is a shame for more mathematically minded children! DD scored much higher in numeracy and NVR than VR.

DS 234 Southern Priority Circle. Last year this score would have equated to a ranking of 444 all children.
