School Trousers for boys
Having seen the post on school shoes (thank you) it reminded me we will soon have to hunt out school trousers. It’s always tricky.
My son is around 6’1” but very slim waisted. I haven’t measured him but I’d guess 28 to 30 max. We have a single style of non-school trousers that just fit (Next chinos in several colours, he won’t wear jeans) and in the past have gone with Next school trousers with adjustable waist. Last time we brought some they were the longest length we could fine and now they are definitely too short. He’s still growing and has three more years in uniform. I think I’m probably looking at menswear now, so any inspiration welcome.
Tried M&S and John Lewis last time without much luck. Even on the slim fit we found the elastic still had to be pulled in a fair bit.

Yes I would say men's trousers. M&S sell washable suit trousers separately to jackets & I'm sure Next does too. Just check they are washable!

Do they come with narrow waists? I doubt they’ll have button elastic!

Something like these?

I haven't seen them in the flesh, so have no idea how much 'stretch', but if they are meant to be half of a formal suit, presumably not too much.

Have you tried a school uniform shop - either a physical one or on-line? We have found more non-standard type sizes there
Re: School Trousers for boys
M+s do extra long in slim fit and standard fit, with another inch turn down in the hem. My ds is 6'2 and a 30/32 waist and they are long enough for him. Available in different colours, though xl black sells out quickly, so you gave to keep checking website.

M&S suit department definitely do slim fit and narrow waist trousers, and in longer lengths too.

Better to buy live, in online stores you can not guess with the size
