Interview with headteacher
Is it normal to be interviewed by the headteacher for independent school 11+ entry? My child had no idea until he mentioned that he was the head of school at the end of the interview. All interviews at other schools applied were with teaching staff.

Re: Interview with headteacher
It totally depends on the school and how they run it. Some divide up interviews between senior staff (including the head teacher); some only use senior staff; some use the head if they are deciding on scholarship offers; some use the head if they are deciding on borderline cases. Sme smaller schools have to use the head because the other staff are busy teaching. The person due to be interviewing might have been called away at short notice and the only person available to step in was the head.
Don't read too much into it.

+1
The Head probably stepped in as they needed another interviewer at short notice.
The fact he only mentioned it at the end of the interview shows that it was not a factor in the interview. DG
