Re: Wallington County (boys) School - 2020 Allocation & WL
I’m trying to get head around of waiting list chances.
Some numbers:
Last year:
218.5 threshold
School place given on offer day, the lowest mark 216.22 [September]
[information as per website whatdotheyknow.com]
This year:
3002 boys attended SAT Test
2023 dropped off [218.5 threshold]
979 successful in reaching the Wallington County Grammar school pass mark
My son’s mark as per information in excel file available[ on some stage] on whatdotheyknow.com website. 221 – he wasn’t successful. He is roughly 800th…
Quick math:
800 ahead of him
-200 Wilson’s
-160 Wallington
-135 Sutton
=====================
Still 305th on waiting list.
Questions:
1. How many of those 305 used Sat just for Mockup [will go to private schools]
2. Wallington is very precise when setting up threshold so what has happened here, he is about 180 places from threshold but still unsuccessful?
To Mod – if you think my post doesn’t belong here, delete it, I will open new thread.
Thanks!

I think you have a very good chance of getting in via the waiting list with 221.
I saw the spreadsheet of scores by postcode and a high proportion (I think around 20%) of the top 150 scores had postcodes up near the North London grammars, or equally ridiculous distances, so those at least were highly motivated ‘tourists’ in it for the practice.
Also Tiffins and St Olaves (and possibly others) to consider as well as independent schools.
Good luck!
Edited to add: the relevance of the other schools is that when their waiting lists move, so will Wallington’s.

@ Oneoftwothings: Thanks for reply
Is there anyone who wants to share SET score and outcome?

Both of my boys got in to Wally Boys via the waiting list, and they loved it there (I’m sure they did)! So hang on, and don’t be disappointed that things are not going too smoothly at the moment.

Can you recall their WL positions?

They were both in the top ten, and it was many years ago.MordenDad wrote:Thanks for reply.Macaroon2 wrote:Both of my boys got in to Wally Boys via the waiting list, and they loved it there (I’m sure they did)!
