Things to do whilst on ‘lockdown’
Hi, I thought it might be useful to compile a list of things to do now the schools are shut.
Some are educational some are not. It would be great if people could add stuff. I think we’ll all need it!

These are worrying times particularly for children who will be able to pick up on our anxieties and all the bad news in the world. For me the most important thing is for them to feel comforted and loved and to feel like it will all be ok in the end.
Our children’s mental health is the most important thing. We just need to remember that we are all in the same boat, yes they will miss out on some of their education but they all will. Being stuck at home for the next few months will be challenging but I’m hoping to find ways of making it fun, as much for my sanity as theirs!

there are some excellent resources being listed and circulated - I know some people are finding it hard to concentrate on studying at this time but hopefully that will get better.
If I was a bit younger I might really concentrate on learning a language - listening all day long and naming everything around the house can speed things up.

There is a lot of stuff for primary children. Much harder for secondary who have to carry on with formal online education (but not stare at a screen all day...) and need exercise (but generally don't do walks in the way that you can amble with a primary schoo child!) Primary school children also generally love having parents for company - secondary, not so much....!!

Here’s one for online photography activities. Not sure what the content is, but she used to teach A level photography and run teen photography courses (DD has been on it and enjoyed it) as well as others, so might be good for older DCs.

Not academic as such but maybe learning a new creative skill will be a good break between doing school work and can be done inside, outside or wherever.

What about activities like playing a game of tennis or going for a bike ride with friends? Would they be allowed as they don't involve any close proximity to anyone?

Teach them to cook, do the laundry and iron. My ds is going to paint his bedroom.
