Crypt have been granted planning permission to build 6 new classrooms. They will be located at the far end of the school.

Are these for the school, or for the Primary school they wanted to build?

Six classrooms wouldn't constitute a new primary school, though - unless there is already a building there ready to be at least one other classroom and all the other parts of the school?

The Primary School idea didn't get anywhere - suspect there are more details on this somewhere but my understanding is that some of the existing 1st floor classrooms are now considered too small for what they are being used for - so these are to create some more space and allow some repurposing of those rooms.Phoenix-Mum wrote:Are these for the school, or for the Primary school they wanted to build?
As it stands I think they have planning permission but the funding isn't in place yet.

Well, as my children's entire primary school consists of 3 classrooms Reception - Y6 then it is possible....ToadMum wrote:Phoenix-Mum wrote:Are these for the school, or for the Primary school they wanted to build?

Re: Crypt development.
Gloucester planning approved this recently. Looking at the objectives the application state the development is
• To address health and safety issues due to overcrowding in existing under sized classrooms at first floor level.
• Improve safeguarding issues across the school.
• Replace under sized classrooms with new to meet BB103 area guidelines.
• Create a sensitive addition to the school.
Behind every scheme designed by QDA is the principle objective to create a pleasant, attractive and sustainable development, which will meet National and Local Planning Policies.

Re: Crypt development.
There be a few of them in rural bits of Essex, too (some very interesting PANs, some of them ). But would planning for changing local need for school places in an urban area seriously include building a whole new less-than-one form of entry school?Phoenix-Mum wrote:Well, as my children's entire primary school consists of 3 classrooms Reception - Y6 then it is possible....ToadMum wrote:Phoenix-Mum wrote:Are these for the school, or for the Primary school they wanted to build?

Re: Crypt development.
The last I heard The Crypt School Trust proposed opening The Wheatridge Primary School on land somewhere in the Abbeydale/Matson area. GCC have admitted demand for Primary Schools places will exceed available places by 2022.
The new classrooms at The Crypt are needed for Crypt pupils, and they have emphasised there are no plans to increase PAN. They now have the planning permission, which they needed before they can apply for the finance to build it
