Please help with NVR question!
Hi,
Please can someone help with these 2 'Most like' questions. Answer to first one is D and second one is C.
We couldn't understand the logic behind these answers.
Thanks

Re: Please help with NVR question!
Could someone please help me in these questions. It would be much appreciated.
Re: Please help with NVR question!
I'm no expert on these kinds of things (though I did once work through one of those online IQ tests which got increasingly tricky and involved similar looking weird symbols, and then found I had to pay to get the results! ) but I have to say I agree - the obvious logic for the first question is "a parallelogram with a diagonal, half shaded" which could fit A, C or D. The only possible difference might be that the lengths of the sides of D match those of the original shapes
But as for the 2nd question that could perhaps be "4 lines across the shape" but how to choose in that case between B and C I wouldn't have the foggiest.

The second one, I go with the 4 lines but am at a loss past that.

If your child (or anyone else for that matter!) is unable to spot the pattern- advise them not to spend ages figuring it out. Make a guess and move on!
Re: Please help with NVR question!
I teach my kids to do NVR questions in layers.
I think for question 1,
Firstly: the quadrilateral is equally divided, so that eliminates B
Secondly: The sides at the bottom are horizontal, so that eliminates A and E, only C and D left
Thirdly: They are not squares, so it must D
For question 2,
Firstly: There can be only 4 parallel lines, so only B and C left
Secondly: Both must contain white circle, it cannot be B, so it must be C
I must admit question two is tricky and I might not be able to do it in timed condition.
