NLCS 11 plus preparation Help

Hi ,
Any advise or pointers on best approach of gearing my DD for her entrance exam into NLCS.
Couple of generic questions what pattern the exam would be ?
Would my DD need to be excpetionally good in any specific subjects.
Parents who have had their daughters through this proces if you could shed some light that would be really helpful.

It’s been about 5 years since the exam but in the English paper DD got to discuss a quote about ‘having to lose yourself to find yourself’ based on her own experiences
I think they like a good bit of abstract thinking and the ability to wing it while writing well.

Understanding implicit references in English is key.

NLCS definitely picked up the HBS applicants who got through the first round but lost out on a place to those who moved into the catchment.

I think this is very likely to happen again this year so I would argue it is now harder to secure a place at NLCS as those who used to get into HBS are now taking NLCS spaces instead. DG

Thanks for the valuable advise.
I am assuming NLCS is not a standby option for those who don't get into HBS as there would be DD's who would only be writing NLCS and not HBS.As long as girls articulate there extensive reading,Creative writing,vocabulary & abstract skills as highlighted assuming they are still doing that !
I hope the Schools would be offering an interview to girls once you clear the first round.

Any pointers or advise on which authors are recommended for reading books,English comprehension and creative writing for exams in NLCS.
Also any specific type patterns or exam boards for Maths which NLCS opts.There is no specific information from School on this apart from a general statement.
Sorry for asking as i have never looked for an independent school option for my DD.
Hopefully information against these would help prepare for the papers.
Also an parents who DD's have written the exam recently.
What pattern is followed for English and maths exam paper sin NLCS i.e 1 hour for maths with 125 questions multiple choice in mental maths and word problems (something along those lines).also whats the pattern for english.

English and Maths standard format. one hour for each.

But English is the key.

There is no exam board, they write their own papers. DG

For the last 2 weeks; which mock tests would you recommend for the NLCS Exam? I can't locate a good thread or web site that can help on some tips. Is there anything recommended?
